Professor ask me, "How can you French?" 
"French is not possible." I answered.

Professor said. .

" Talk about surrealism can not understand French. "
" It is surrealism ! "

What a great joke sarcasm ! 
I was very impressed with the feel shame.
Since then, my complex for foreign language continues.

Recognition of Japanese intelligentsia have on European culture, 

There is only at this level generally. 
Indeed, it can be said it is surrealism !

Fascinated by this exhaust manifold.

The XK original manifold, inefficient heavy cast made of enamel paint.
In addition, dirty-looking enamel paint peeling in the heat quickly.

So, now my XK120 is fitted with a stainless steel manifold.
But, I changed to the same carburetor SU H8 C-type,
I got to make a special manifold of the same shape as the C-type this 

I hope to mount it.

Face can not changed, but fedora shape can be changed

Hat feathers replace to fit the image of clothes.

Raise the back of the brim: dressy image.

Lower the back of the brim: casual image.

I'm not bald yet, but I'm always wearing fedora.

Is it any influences from my grandfather was dandy,

It might be a influence of foreign films I saw in the 1950s.

So, I have a variety of classic shapes Fedora,

Brim size is 2 1/2" to 3" wide is my favorite.

When I get a new fedora,

It is difficult to take the experience, in fun of me.

When I was high school, the student dowdy uniform and cap,

Then, I asked Mr.Sakuma want to get it.

Now car that requires maintenance is only XK120,
It was no longer broken of aging to perfection.
Probably, would never use this ratchet handle.

I will place them in the glove box.

Car mechanic's eye is more than Photographer's eye

Reference to the level of finish of the SU carburetor overhaul,
Photos was sent to me from Mr.Sakuma of Grand Auto.
I was impressed by the sense of his art.
Mr. Sakuma is an excellent mechanic,
And he has good sense as a photographer.
Perspective and composition is really great.
Because he know perfectly the engine mechanism,
He is able to shoot in such a unique angle and composition.

Photo of Aston Martin DB6 in the maintenance Mr.Sakuma has sent me.

HD8 SU carburetor and the intake manifold 

 that has been polished to perfection.

Racing option H8 SU carburetor for Jaguar C-type.
There is a punch in the high rpm range for racing,
usually would be difficult to ride.
But I will mount to get more than overtaking acceleration.

Yesterday, I received an email from Mr.Sakuma.

”The image of the finish, is it shiny? 

 or, Is it taste of embezzled?
 Reference photo is DB6, what do you want to finish?”

More power !  More cool !
I want to tune up the engine of the XK120,
Changed to 1-3/4 inch HD6s SU carburetor for street,
To mount the 2 inch H8 SU carburetor of racing option.
I ordered overhaul of the H8 SU carb that I used in the past
to Mr. Sakuma of Grand Auto.
Wish that, because I want to get back with the same passion 
when I was young.

I have a dream to challenge the Peking-Paris,
Never exhibited at the Concours d'Elegance the XK120.
So, it is important to be more reliable than shiny.

But, I was ordered to Mr.Sakuma.

"Please polished shiny just like the DB6."

Have not only put instant coffee and cheap wine in this cafe.
Only when friends visited, I'll put the coffee delicious specially.
Using DolceGusto of Nescafe was a gift from Mr. Natsuki.
But, Havana cigars and single malt whiskey is hidden for the night.
The music is full, the singing of the little birds and the bees wingbeat.
Until dark, I have stay here with Pepe.
Just enough for me now. I don't want any more.
But, If I wish something else,
It would be no other than the love of elegant lady.

Vetro Montagna along with Autumn

Watch souvenir was presented to entrant in 1994.

Classic car meeting annually, has been held in Koyasan.

”Vetro Montagna” will be held this year.

November 10 (saturday) , 11 (sunday) ,  2012

I was worried about the holding of this year.

Last year, Vetro Montagna finished the 20th Anniversary.

That classic car event lasted for 20 years in Japan, was a surprise.

Typically, in the event there is no benefit classic car event held
in the region will be canceled. 

It is because it common sense in Japan. 

20 years, I have painted the poster for this event.

I took last year, draw a picture of the poster that it is finally.

But, I think I want to draw again.

1994, I drew a illustration for poster and brochure. 
Ferrari 860 Monza & Jaguar D-type. 
Illustration which can be seen in the background of the watch in the photo.

My favorites, even now, it is my name card decorate.

ホーンボタンに彫られたジャガーの顔が違う。

オリジナル・ホーンボタンのジャガーの細密な彫刻と深みのある黒いレンズ。

２年前に購入したホーンボタン（レプリカ）入念さに欠ける横顔の彫刻や黒レンズ。

ホーンボタン中央上部に付く方向指示器レバー。
ストッパーが壊れて止まらないので、
２年前に新しいホーンボタンを輸入し取付けた。
それはXK120を所有して以来２度目の交換だった。
その新しい方向指示器レバーも程なく壊れた。
何度も分解して修理したが、すぐダメになるので、
そんなモノなのだろうと諦めていた。

精密機械類に詳しい野口さんが
古い２個と新しいホーンボタンを細かく観察して

小傷はあるが古いオリジナルの方が良いと言う。

そして、古い２個のホーンボタン・アッセンブリーを使って、

欠陥部分は作り直し完璧な１個を作って下さった。

オリジナルパーツとレプリカパーツの違いが理解出来た。
最も大きな違いは、彫刻されたジャガーの顔。
オリジナルは、毛の一本一本が細密に彫られているが、
レプリカは、顔の彫りが簡略化されフラットである。

オリジナルの黒いレンズは透明度のある黒だが、

レプリカの黒いレンズは曇ってグレーっぽく見える。
またメッキの品質も良く無い。

オリジナルの固定用の円形プレート周囲のエッジには、

テーパーが付きシャフト部にスプリングが挿入されていて、
キックバックの振動を吸収する設計だが、

レプリカにはテーパーも無くスプリングも無い。

傷も無く汚れも無い新しいレプリカ・パーツ。
それはパレードに出場する様なクルマなら良いのだろう。
コンクールでも審査員はココまでの鑑識眼は無いだろう。
しかし、年式相応に使い込んだ重厚な味わいや、
コストを無視して手造りされた時代の
人間らしい工夫や機械としての使い易さには欠ける。

現代、クルマは普及し高性能になった。
しかし、1960年以降のコストダウンを重視して設計され、
大量生産されたクルマは、どんなに流麗なボディを纏っていても、
所詮はレプリカ・パーツと同じなのだ。

Horseback Riding Lesson at Paddy Field

Paddy Field Riding Club (link) located in the foothills of Mt.Fuji.
We had a great time with the 11-year-old mare called Miss Piggie.
Wearing flashy hair pinto, she was very charming.
On the terrace of the restaurant bar style like come out to western movies,

There was enough time and space to spare, unlike today.

Rear window has been fine carriages and the smaller,
People were imitating feel that it's elegance.

The XK120 was designed in the 1940s,
There are still vestiges of the carriage horse age to still everywhere.
The plate of the wood floor being used,
A small rear window with the canopy would like carriage.

Jaguar at the time, and did not get recognized thoroughbred.
When trying to promote and sell luxury image is produced,
Imitated aristocratic carriage

やっぱりビジュアル的には英文の方が美しいから、

この機会に英語の詩を勉強しようかなあ〜
